Synopsis

"The Songs We Sang" is Singapore's first feature-length music documentary on Xinyao. It chronicles the campus singing phenomenon of the 1980s, tracing the rise and peak of Xinyao from 1980 to 1990 against the backdrop of Singapore's evolving cultural and social landscape. Through familiar melodies, moving visuals and interviews, the documentary brings renewed awareness of Xinyao's development and a nostalgic look at youth gone by. Following its premiere at the Singapore International Film Festival on November 29, this is the second special screening.
